About us
A bookshop is a room,
not a website.
Nautilus opened on Strada Constantin Mille in 2019 with about eight hundred titles, most of them borrowed from the founder's flat. Six years later we keep close to two thousand English-language books on the shelves, plus a manga section that started as an experiment and became one of the reasons people come.
The shop
Two thousand books, four booksellers, one physical door.
We're a small team. Everything on the shelves has been chosen by one of us, defended by one of us, sold by one of us to somebody standing two feet away asking for a recommendation.
The manga section is bigger than most people expect. That's on purpose. Bucharest has real manga readers and had, until recently, nowhere serious to buy the books.
What we don't do
Every book. Every genre. Every trend.
We don't try to compete with Amazon on scale. We compete on which two thousand books. There's a difference between a warehouse and a bookshop; we know which one we are.
If we don't stock what you want, ask. We order individual titles weekly and can have most books at the shop in seven to ten days.
The booksellers
Ask us what to read.
